Ruth R. Jones

Ruth R. Jones of Elkton, Md., died Wednesday, May 9, 2007, peacefully at home after a long and courageous battle with ovarian cancer.

The daughter of the late Horace and Bessie Roloson, she was born Nov. 21, 1931, in Deposit, N.Y., and married Phillip B. Jones in August, 1949, and settled in Masonville, N.Y.

She retired to Sharon after 27 years of service as secretary to the principal at Sidney High School. In addition to raising her family, she enjoyed bowling, camping, fishing, gardening and traveling.

She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star for more than 50 years, having served as Matron.

In addition to her husband of 58 years of marriage, she is survived by her son, Robert P. Jones, Sr. and his wife Tammy of Forest Hill, Md.; a daughter, Cheryl J. Lennon and her husband Thomas of Warwick, N.Y.; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and her brother, Jack Roloson of Afton, N.Y.

She was predeceased by her older brother, Graydon.

A private burial will be held in Masonville, N.Y.
