Randolph Golf Team Update
By Coach Bob Dyer

The Randolph boys’ golf team is in full swing. The team practiced hard in early April at the Three Stallion Driving Range in Randolph Center as area courses were not able to open until late April.

Matches for the team started April 30, with the team traveling to Orleans Country Club in Orleans, Vt. On a very cold and windy afternoon the team was led by Ira Tillberg with a 49. Ira was one of the few players able to break 50.

On May 2, the team traveled to the Copley Golf Club in Morrisville and enjoyed a cool but sunny day. The team tallied a fourth place finish with a 226, which featured Josh Baumann’s 57, a big improvement over practice and the opening match scores.

The team was home at the new and improved Montague Golf Club on May 9. Connor Fowler stood out, scoring a 49 on the par 37 back nine, his first round under 50 for the year. The team score of 223 earned a second place finish against Stowe and Hazen Union.

Friday, May 11, the team played a make-up match at the Country Club of Barre. A very tough front nine featured Josh Baumann again feeling good about scoring in the 50s.

On May 14, the team was back home at Montague playing the par 33 front nine. The improvements to the greens and many new tees are making the nine much more difficult.

The team score of 221, which is an improvement, left them in last place against a good Northfield High School team, Hazen Union, and Richford.
