The Vermont Symphony Orchestra travels around Vermont again this summer bringing its popular TD Banknorth Summer Festival Tour to ten stunning venues across the state, including the Three Stallion Inn in Randolph. From June 28 to July 8, the state’s premier orchestra performs "Passion Trend" in beautiful mountain and lakeside locations, welcoming pre-concert picnicking, and concluding each performance with Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture and fireworks. This year, tragic lovers, visionaries, free spirits, and scoundrels fill the stage in "Passion Trend," a tribute to living life on a grand scale. Guest conductor Andrew Massey leads the orchestra in music of quests, conquests, and passion. This program of fervor includes Dvorak’s Slavonic Dance, Wagner’s Siegfried’s Rhine Journey, Styne’s "Gypsy" selections, Rachmaninoff’s Vocalise, and Berlioz’s Overture to Benvenuto Cellini. It also features the ardor of Bernstein’s West Side Story and Grainger’s Irish Tune from County Derry, among others. The annual outdoor festival of classic favorites comes to the Three Stallion Inn on Saturday, July 7. Concerts start at 7:30, with the gates opening for picnicking at 5 p..m. Founded in 1936, the VSO is the oldest state-supported orchestra in the country. It is a professional orchestra, led by music director and noted violinist Jaime Laredo who draws world-renown guest soloists to perform in Vermont. |
