Paula Gills of Northfield will perform songs from her CD, "Living On," and the folk repertoire at a special performance to benefit The Washington, Vt. Unitarian Universalist Church on June 24, 2007 at 4:30 p.m. When "Living On" was released in October of 2006, it spent six weeks on the Seven Days Top Pop 10 sales charts. Paula’s singing and guitar playing is in the folk, rock/folk pop genre, but in many ways her work defies a label. The songs on her CD range from intimate folk ballads to exuberant anthems creating and celebrating her vision of the vicissitudes and glories of life. She shows Latin, Caribbean, and Celtic influences. "Living On" includes the work of some of Vermont’s finest folk musicians: Colin McCaffrey, Jon Gailmor, and Emily Lanxner of Panashe. It also includes a tribute to the late Rachel Bissex. |
