The Dazzling ‘Vivien’
Plays at LNT

"Vivien, starring Janis Stevens in a play by Rick Foster and directed by Peter Sander plays at Lost Nation Theater in Montpelier, May 31-June 10.

"Vivien" tells the story of the great film and stage actress Vivien Leigh.

It protrays Vivien’s marriage to Laurence Olivier—both a blessing and a curse; her love/hate relationship with Hollywood; her glittering galas and her determination to achieve greatness on the legitimate stage; the manic depressive illness and tuberculosis that plagued her adult life; and the beauty that both propelled her stardom and, sometimes, seemed to diminish her artistic achievements.

Stevens not only re-creates several of Leigh’s great film roles —Blanche DuBois and Scarlett O'Hara—but many of the stage roles she played throughout her 30-year career.

Janis Stevens won a 2005-06 New York Drama Desk Award nomination for best solo performance for Vivien’s Off-Broadway run.

As part of Lost Nation Theater’s production, a Vivien-Leigh-like party follows the performance on Fridays and Saturdays.

The show is recommended for adult audiences (mature language).

Curtain is 7 p.m. both Thurdays and Sunday, June 3; and 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays. There is also a 2 p.m. matinee June 2 and on the final Sunday, June 10.
