The Royal baseballers ended their season on Memorial Day with an 11-4 record. The Royals had won seven in a row coming into Monday's game at Randolph before they lost 7-5. The Royals lost their first regular season away game in four years, a pretty impressive record. On a good note the Royals wrapped up the CVL title this week as well with an 8-0 record. Win @ Rivendell, 7-2 The Royals made a trip back to Orford on May 23 to finish a game with Rivendell that was started on the 10th, but had to be postponed due to lightning in the top of the fourth. The Royals had a 4-2 lead at that point and resumed right where they had left off. The Royals offense gave pitcher Tyler Manning the run support that he needed, and he threw all seven innings, fanning two on the tenth and ending with eight K's. The Royals’ offense scored four the first night, off two home runs, and three when they came back to finish it up. Three runs came in the fourth and three in the sixth. Miles Ellis led the way for SoRo offensively, and Tyrell Manning had the other home run to lead off the fourth. Devin Cilley was 1-2 with a two-RBI double in the sixth. Win @ Peoples South Royalton made the trip up to Peoples Academy on May 24, making it their third straight day of games. The Royals picked up six big index points for beating a D-II opponent on the road as they took the victory, 9-2. Dustin Parker pitched a good game facing 35 in his complete game effort with six K's, allowing seven hits and two walks. On the offensive side of things, Parker was helped out by the top of the order with Nate McShinsky and Tyrell Manning combining to go 3-7 with six runs scored and Dale Manning was 2-4 with six RBI's, while Parker helped himself with two RBI's as well. Win vs. BMU On Saturday, May 26, after the Royals had a day off they headed to Centennial Field to play Blue Mountain where they were looking forward to playing on the field where the State Championships are held. The Royals came ready to play and jumped on BMU early, scoring two runs in the first, four runs in the second, and six runs in the fourth, before ending with a final of 15-8. The Royals were led by Tyrell Manning going 4-5, Tyler Manning and Ellis combined to go 4-8 and Dale Manning, Dustin Parker, and Trevor Webster were a combined 7-11 with four RBI's and five runs scored. On the defensive side of things the Royals pitching was split between three pitchers as Tyler Manning pitched the first four innings facing 20 batters. Dustin Parker threw the next two innings facing 11 and Nate McShinsky came in and threw the final inning facing three men, throwing a perfect inning with two K's. Loss @ Randolph The Royals had their last game of the regular season at Randolph and came into the game with a seven-game win streak. That streak came to an end with the loss, 7-5. The Royals jumped early on Randolph with two runs in the first before Randolph grabbed the lead with four runs in the third. The Royals scored two in the fifth, but Randolph scored in the sixth to give them an insurance run. Nate McShinsky and Tyler Manning each combined to throw three innings each. The Royals’ offense was led by Tyler Manning going 3-4 with two runs and an RBI and Miles Ellis, 2-3, with three RBI's and a run. The Royals (11-4) host the first round of the playoffs today, Thursday. ____________ |
