Randolph Union HS Graduates
Urged to ‘Cherish the Moment’

When Randolph Union High School’s Class of 2007 left their graduation ceremony Friday evening, June 15, they marched out clutching their diplomas, but they did it with a twist. The tune they marched to was the James Bond "007" theme song and most of them were wearing dark glasses.

Earlier that evening, the individuality of the 78 graduates was emphasized when it was noted that their plans for the future ranged from studying psychology in college to training at a butchering school to run and own a slaughterhouse.

"Cherish this moment, but take it as the springboard it’s meant to be," advised speaker Tom Harty. His remarks also took a humorous turn when he gave his "Top 10 List" of things the graduates would miss about RUHS. These included Randolph’s "exciting night life," and the school building’s leaky roof.

Class speaker Micah Battino relied on a PowerPoint presentation to illustrate his often-humorous speech. He finished by noting, "Whatever we do, we cannot forget this place. No matter where we go, what we do, or who we are, this school will always be a part of us—sort of a like a bionic arm."

The International Exchange Club traded flags with the three foreign exchange students who had studied at RUHS during the past academic year. They were Peter Wittman of Germany, Maria Pedersen of Denmark, and Felipe Ewertz of Chile.

"I just want to say I had a great time here," Ewertz told the crowd. "I’m really going to miss this place."

Almost $80,000 in scholarships and awards from many different organizations in the community were presented.
