VSO in Randolph July 7 The VSO will present "Passion Trend," a program with tragic lovers, visionaries, free spirits and scoundrels filling the stage in a tribute to living life on a grand scale, with music of quests, conquests, and above all, passion. Guest conductor Andrew Massey, of Montgomery will lead the VSO in performing Dvorak’s "Slavonic Dance, Op. 46, No. 1;" Berlioz’s "Overture to Benvenuto Cellini;" Wagner’s "Rhine Journey," and Grainger’s "Irish Tune from County Derry." The program will also include Bernstein’s "West Side Story: Selection for Orchestra," Dvorak’s "Slavonic Dance, Op. 72, No. 7," Rachmaninoff’s "Vocalise," and Styne’s "Selections from Gypsy." The program will conclude with Tchaikovsky’s "1812 Overture" with fireworks! Tickets may be purchased in advance at a discount through the Bethel Council on the Arts by contacting John Duddie at the Randolph National Bank at 728-9611, with proceeds benefiting the council. You can also purchase tickets at the Three Stallion Inn and at Cover to Cover Books in Randolph. Bring your picnic basket and a blanket. The grounds open at 5 p.m. and the concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. The rain site for the concert is the Randolph Union High School Gymnasium. ____________ |
