Charles and Joyce Voghell ASCUTNEY—Charles L. Voghell, 72 and his wife Joyce L. Voghell, 63, died Monday June 18, 2007 in an automobile accident in Hollis, Maine. Charles was born August 12, 1934 in Randolph, the son of Florian and Simone (Senecal) Voghell. He attended school in Randolph before entering the US Navy where he served from 1955 until 1959 and later graduated from Bailey Technical Institute in St. Louis, Mo. Joyce was born August 16, 1943 in Lebanon, N.H., the daughter of Walter and Catherine (Gravelle) Parmenter and graduated from South Royalton High School in 1961. They were married in August of 1964 in Bethel. Charles worked in the service department at Kelton Motors and later at New England Equipment for many years while Joyce worked raising their family at home in Hartford Village, where they lived for over 30 years. They had lived in Ascutney since 1996. They worked together at their own business, JC Associates, at first part time and then full time since 1990. They enjoyed traveling, kayaking, snowshoeing gardening and landscaping together. She enjoyed painting and he enjoyed woodworking and refinishing furniture. Their greatest joy was their family, especially their grandchildren. While in Hartford, they were members of St. Anthony’s Church and in Ascutney have been active members of the Ascutney Union Church, serving on the stewardship committee. Survivors include their two daughters, Catherine V. Farrington of Stockbridge and Cynthia E. Osgood of Weathersfield; a son, Charles G. Voghell of Samak, Utah; three grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Charles is also survived by three sisters: Cecile Fitzgerald of Worcester, Mass.; Rita Monroe of Brookline, Mass.; and Paula Howley of Chester, Conn.; four brothers: Robert Voghell of Ocala, Fla.; Florian "Bonhomme" Voghell of Hartland Four Corners, Mike Voghell of Williston, and Larry Voghell of Tucson, Ariz. Joyce is also survived by her father, Walter Parmenter of South Royalton; two sisters, Phyllis Messner of Maryville, Tenn.; and Judy Ford of Alpharetta, Ga.; and four brothers: Robert McCoy, Alan McCoy and James Parmenter all of Wilder; and Larry Parmenter of South Royalton. She was predeceased by two brothers, Kenneth McCoy and Walter Parmenter. Calling hours were held at the Knight Funeral Home in Windsor, Friday, June 22. A private funeral service was held at the Ascutney Union Church Saturday, June 23, with the Rev. Constance Moser officiating. A public celebration of their lives took place later that day at The Valley Bible Church in White River Jct., with longtime friend Ted Fish officiating. A private committal will be held at the Vermont Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery in Randolph Center at the convenience of the family.
