‘Loose in Vermont’ Debuts
As Herald Cartoon Strip

The Herald this week introduces a new cartoonist, Randolph resident Kenny Riedell.

Riedell’s new strip, "Loose in Vermont," will run in the classified section in the place currently occupied by "Poco Loco" by Northfield artist Scott Wood.

"Poco Loco" will move to the Calendar page, where readers have been accustomed to seeing John Kennedy’s "Local Color." Kennedy has moved from Pittsfield to Bellows Falls and may continue to contribute cartoons occasionally.

Riedell grew up in Florida and later did graphics work for a Norwalk, Conn. company while he took cartooning classes at Fairfield University. His instructor there recommended him for work as an assistant on two nationally-known comic strips, "Nancy" and "Tom & Jerry," he said.

Riedell is a member of the Connecticut Chapter of the National Cartoonists Society. He moved to Vermont with his family three years ago.

"I love Randolph," he remarked. "I have some great friends here."

Riedell’s first three strips were all very well received by the Herald staff. We hope our readers like them, too!
