Libby Case Was 1) Former chief of staff to the vice president, Libby was convicted of felony obstruction of justice. His perjury conviction was because he lied to FBI investigators and under oath in US Federal District Court in order to obstruct the investigation into who leaked covert CIA agent Valerie Plames identity to the press. 2) Valerie Plame was a covert CIA agent working under cover to prevent the illegal proliferation of nuclear weapons to terrorists and rogue nations. 3) Her exposure did destroy the network of operatives and operations she was in charge of. 4) Her exposure did vastly increase the possibility of America being the victim of a nuclear attack. 5) Libby was given an extremely light sentence of 30 months, considering the national security implications of his crimes. 6) The commuting of his sentence by George W. Bush WAS unprecedented and violated Justice Department guide-lines. 7) Never before has any convicted felon had his sentence commuted before he even served one day of his sentence. 8) Never before has any convicted felon ever had his sentence commuted when the crime was such a serious breach of US national security. 9) Never before has any convicted felon had his sentence commuted without first filing a request for such with the Justice Department. 10) Never before has America had to suffer having a president, vice president and executive branch that had so little regard and respect for the people of the United States, the Constitution of the United States and the rule of law that unites them in common cause.
