RANDOLPH — Elaine C. She was born October 5, 1960, in Barre, the daughter of Edward "Skee" and Anna (Moses) Barnaby. She was born with Down’s Syndrome and, at an early age, went to live at a school in Brandon. After several years, she moved to St. Johnsbury to continue her schooling. Following her schooling she moved to Randolph. For the past several years, she made her home with her primary caregivers, Bill and Michelle Sharron and their daughter, Michaela. She took part in the Special Olympics and also enjoyed bowling. She loved soda and music. Survivors include her father of Tunbridge; two brothers, Gordon Barnaby of Tunbridge and James Barnaby of Warren, Mass.; two sisters, Diana Brock of Greenwood, Alaska, and Jean Parker of Chelsea; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her mother; a brother, Edward G. Barnaby; and a sister, Winona Savedra. A funeral service was held Friday, July 27, at the Tunbridge Congregational Church in Tunbridge, with the Rev. David Wolfe officiating. A sister-in-law, Susan Barnaby, read remembrances that were written by Elaine’s sister, Jean Parker. During the service, several songs were played, including "Wonder" by Natalie Merchant, "I Can Only Imagine" by Mercy and "Don’t Laugh at Me" by Mark Wills. The pall bearers were brothers, Gordon Barnaby and Jim Barnaby, and nephews, Anthony Brock and Chad Barnaby. Burial took place at the Branch View Cemetery in South Royalton. Memorial contributions may be made to Amy Bogardus, Athletic Director, 222 Monarch Hill Road, Tunbridge, Vt., 05077, to help with athletic development of the students at Tunbridge Central School. Arrangements are under the direction of the Boardway & Cilley Funeral Home on Main Street in Chelsea. ____________ |
