Betty Diefenbach AUSTIN, TEXAS—Betty Margileth Diefenbach, 97, formerly also of Tenafly, N.J., and Braintree, died in her sleep August 4, 2007. She was born September 23, 1909 in Springfield, Ohio. She attended Butler University in Indiana and was a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority, from which she received her 75-year pin. She was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and St. John Neuman Catholic Church in Austin. She married Henry E. Diefenbach. While living in New Jersey in 1961, she and her husband owned a summer place on the Oxbow in South Royalton. In 1971, they moved to Braintree and lived there until 1995, when they moved to Austin, Texas. She was an accomplished artist and pianist and enjoyed these endeavors into her 90s. She touched many lives through her involvement with art, music, family and friends. Survivors include her children, Richard Diefenbach of Danville; John Diefenbach of Mason, N.H.; and Elizabeth Ranck of Austin, Texas; eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband. Her family is grateful to Hospice of Austin, Christopher House and to her caregiver and companion, during the last two years of her life, Betty Esensee of Fredericksburg, Texas. ____________ |
