News of Area Service People

Navy Reserve Seaman Amanda R. Bump, a 2005 graduate of Whitcomb High School in Bethel, recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill. During the eight-week program, Bump completed a variety of training, including classroom study and practical instruction on naval customs, first aid, firefighting, water safety and survival, and shipboard and aircraft safety.

In a gesture of support for military service people and their families from the Herald’s readership area, we periodically run a "News of Area Service People" column. We hope Herald readers will let us know the names of their loved ones serving our country, that person’s local connection (whose son, daughter, nephew, etc. are they?), what branch of the military they’re in, and where they’re stationed. Other information, such as their rank and specific duties may also be included.

This news may be submitted to the Herald by regular mail to P.O. Box 309, Randolph, Vt. 05060; by e-mail to news@ourherald.com or by fax to 728-9275.
