First place winner in the 65-69 female age group for the Capital Area Race Series was Milly Rhoades of Bethel. Runners had to compete in four out of five races to be eligible for the series. Rhoades competed in all five races: the first one was a 5K race held March 31, in Gilmanton, N.H.; the second one a SEIU 5K race held April 7 in Concord, N.H. The third race, the N.H. Delta Dental 5K race was April 27, in Concord, N.H. The fourth race was held on Mother’s Day, May 13, also in Concord. Two of Rhoades’ daughters-in-law, Kristen and Julie Rhoades and grandson Bradley Rhoades, age nine, ran this race with grammy. The last race was a five miler held July 21 in Concord. Three second place wins, a third and one first place win earned Rhoades the highest number of points to be first in the series. On the running website that lists the top 1000 runners in the United States for a 5K race in the 65-69 age group, the SEIU race time of 31:48 on April 7, lists Rhoades 365th out of 1000 runners as of August 20. Times are listed throughout the year as races are listed. The most recent race, the Cigna/Elliott 5K held August 9 in Manchester, N.H., was also a first place finish for Rhoades in the 65-69 age group for females. ____________ |
