The library is located in Sharon village on Rte. 14, just off I-89, Exit 2; and the Seven Stars Center is next door. The series begins Thursday, Sept. 13, with John Griesemer, author of "Signal & Noise," a novel about events surrounding the laying of the first transatlantic telegraph cable. Griesemer will read from his soon-to-be published new work of fiction, "The Acting School." As well as writing novels, Griesemer is an actor, appearing on Broadway, on TV shows such as "Law and Order," and in movies such as "The Crucible" and "Brother from Another Planet." He lives in Lyme, N.H. On September 27, well-known poet Joan Aleshire will read from her four published collections, including "The Yellow Transparents" and "Litany of Thanks," and selections from her current work. Aleshire is on the poetry faculty of the MFA Program for Writers at Warren Wilson College, and lives in Shrewsbury. October 11 will bring popular Vermont mystery writer, Sarah Stewart Taylor, to Sharon, to entertain her audience with tales of her original sleuth, Sweeney St. George. So far, Taylor has four mystery novels to her credit, "O’ Artful Death," "Mansions of the Dead," "Judgment of the Grave," and "Still as Death," all of them enthusiastically received. She lives in Hartland. On October 25, poet David Cavanagh will share his work. Cavanagh’s collections of poems include "The Middleman," published by Salmon Poetry in Ireland, and several chapbooks. A new book, "Falling Body," is forthcoming from Salmon. Cavanagh was recently awarded a writer’s grant from the Canada Council for the Arts to support him in writing his next book, Straddle. He lives in Burlington. The series will conclude November 8 with a community poetry open-mike night. Everyone is invited to come and read a couple of their own poems, or their favorite poem written by someone else. All ages are encouraged to participate.
