Thoughts On
S.R. Gym Vote

I have some items to consider in regard to the proposed gymnasium addition to the South Royalton School, some of my own and some that I have discussed with others.

The present gym, being so small, is unsafe and is an accident waiting to happen.

The elementary students lack space for an adequate phys ed program, having to use the multi-purpose room.

Although everyone will see an increase in taxes, one business owner remarked that they will have the largest increase.

With a new facility the committee hopes more tuition students will attend South Royalton School, although most reports show a decline in overall student population. One increase could come from other schools that might have to close in the future.

I know that athletic programs are important for many students. I hope other programs like technical education, music, drama, and art receive funding to update equipment and materials.
