BETHEL—Victor Max Ballou, 58, of Bethel, died Saturday night, Sept. 1, 2007, at his home, surrounded by his family and friends. He was born September 20, 1948, in Randolph. He was raised in South Royalton, and attended South Royalton High School, later receiving his G.E.D. In high school, he had been active in 4-H. He married Darlene Thompson in Gaysville May 4, 1973, and moved to Bethel in 1973. He was a carpenter and jack-of-all-trades. He enjoyed fishing, camping, hunting, spending time at the lake, playing cards, telling jokes, and being with his family. Survivors include his wife, Darlene Ballou; three sons: Shawn, Jason and Jeremy, all of Bethel; four brothers: Charles Ballou of Brookfield, Doug Ballou of Williamstown, Dale Ballou of White River Junction, and Carl Ballou of Walden; a sister, Cathy Dean of Tennessee; and several grandchildren. He was predeceased by his mother, Hazel Morrill. Graveside services will be held Saturday, Sept. 8 at 11 a.m. at Cherry Hill Cemetery on Christian Hill Road in Bethel. A potluck reception will follow at the Bethel Masonic Lodge. Calling hours were held Tuesday, Sept. 4 at the Day Funeral Home in Randolph.
