Runaway Canoe
Wrestled to Ground

My husband and I would like to have Patrick Judge recognized for his quick thinking and foresight. A week ago Saturday we were at Silver Lake State Park swimming when that terrible wind storm hit.

We got out of the water when there was lightning, just before the wind came up. We had just gotten into our vehicle and looked up to see all kinds of beach things go airborne. Then the canoe by the landing was pushed by the wind. It was rolling over and over like a beach ball, headed straight for our vehicle and the one next to us. My husband couldn’t get out of the car fast enough. (Both of us had joint replacements a few months ago and are not as agile as we would like to be.)

Pat Judge was there loading up his and his wife Maureen’s kayaks. He grabbed the canoe and wrestled it into the bulrushes so it would stop rolling. We were so thankful he was able to do that.
