Rutherford Tabor BETHEL—Rutherford ("Bud") H. Tabor, 73, died Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2007 at Gifford Medical Center in Randolph. He was born July 20, 1933 the son of Erastus and Maxine (Smith) Tabor. Following his education, he served with the U.S. Army from 1955-57. He married Lynn Charbonneau August 24, 1974 in Bethel. He worked for the State of Vermont Highway Department for 42 years, retiring in 1996. After his retirement, he worked part-time for the Town of Royalton Highway Department. He later worked winters at Killington and summers at the White River Golf Club in Rochester. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing and Thursday night card games. He especially liked playing with his grandchildren. Survivors include his wife, Lynn Tabor of Bethel; a daughter, Jennifer Merrill of Stockbridge; a son, Brent Tabor of Montpelier; a sister, Beverly Tenney of St. Johnsbury; three brothers, Raymond Tabor of Pittsford, James Tabor of Lake Wales, Fla. and Erastus Tabor of Randolph; and two grandchildren, Madison and Wyatt Merrill. He was predeceased by a daughter, Lisa Tabor. Funeral services were held Saturday, Sept 8 at the United Church of Bethel. Pastor Thomas Harty officiated. Linda Orr was the organist. Remembrances written by his brother, Erastus, were shared by Pastor Harty. The congregation sang "Shall We Gather at the River," and "In the Garden." Pall bearers were Stanley Russ, Dick Burnham, Mark Elmore, Bruce Lang, Dave Hodgdon and Rocky Hall. Burial was in the East Randolph Cemetery. A time of fellowship and refreshments followed at the White Church.
