Rochester, Pittsfield Churches To Share Worship During Project The Federated Church of Rochester and the Pittsfield Federated Church will worship together in Pittsfield for a number of weeks starting Sunday, Sept. 30 at 10 a.m. The two churches will combine their worship services while the Rochester church undergoes a six-to-eight week renovation project in its sanctuary. The Rev. Greg Homan, who pastors both churches, will conduct the services. Starting Sunday, Oct. 7, Dorothy Robson will direct a combined choir with practices being at 9 a.m., directly before worship service. The Pittsfield church invited the Rochester congregation to worship with them during the renovation process. The project will include replacing the flooring in the sanctuary, painting the walls and pews, installing new curtains, and replacing the lighting fixtures. "I’ve heard enthusiasm from folks in both congregations about this opportunity to come together in fellowship and worship," said Rev. Homan. Rochester Federated Church deacon Peter Klein will oversee the project, which is being funded by private donations made for that purpose. Although the Pittsfield church normally has Sunday evening services, during the time the two churches worship together, there will be no evening service in Pittsfield. ____________ |
