Rte. 14 Country Store & Deli Is Opening This Friday By Martha Slater Ever since the previous owner of the store on Route 14 in East Brookfield closed it down last May, local resident Tim Poljacik said he and his neighbors have had no place close by to go for milk, bread, and other grocery items. "I was tired of having to drive into Randolph to get things," Poljacik told the Herald, "and I thought others might be, too, so I decided to jump into it and buy the store." The Route 14 Country Store and Deli will officially open its doors this Friday, Sept. 29, with Poljacik behind the counter. His wife, Beverly, who works full-time as a registered nurse at Dartmouth-Hitchcock will also work at the store on her days off. "I’m new at the store business," Poljacik commented. "I previously ran a carpet cleaning business and then I was the assistant golf pro at the Northfield Country Club. Now, I’ve been reincarnated as a storekeeper! For now, it’s going to be a ‘mom and pop’ store, with just us as the employees." In addition to basic groceries, Poljacik will sell beer, wine, soda, and coffee, and will also make pizza and subs to eat in or take out. The Route 14 Country Store and Deli will be open from 6 a.m.-6 p.m., six days a week, and will be closed on one weekday, although Poljacik hadn’t decided exactly which one yet when he spoke with The Herald on Monday. For more information about the store, you can contact Poljacik there at 276-3030. ____________ |
