Elizabeth Gaylord

BROOKFIELD—Elizabeth B. Gaylord, 70, died Thursday, Sept. 20, 2007 at Berlin Health & Rehabilitation Center in Berlin.

She was born December 16, 1936 in Bennington, the daughter of Charles and Bernice (Smead) Krawczyk.

She attended Brookfield schools and married H. Colin Gaylord June 18, 1954 in Montpelier. She stayed at home raising her children until the mid 1960s, when she went to work at Gifford Memorial Hospital in Randolph. She later worked at Merrimaids, also in Randolph, retiring in 2000.

Her memberships included the First Congregational Church of Brookfield and the Brookfield Women’s Club. She enjoyed sewing, baking and flower gardening.

Survivors include a son, Scott Gaylord of Randolph Center; three daughters, Cindy Bryan of Cottageville, S.C., Kelly Tucker of Braintree and Lisa Williams of Barre; two brothers, Richard Beattie of Whitefield, N.H., and Kenneth Beattie of Tallahassee, Fla.; a sister, Patricia Clermont of Weathersfield, eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Monday, Sept. 24 at the First Congregational Church of Brookfield. Rev. Neil Carr officiated. Marjorie Gilliagan was the organist. The congregation sang "Amazing Grace" and "Oh God, Our Help in Ages Past." Rev. Carr shared the poem "My First Christmas in Heaven."

Burial was in the East Brookfield Cemetery. Pall bearers were Wayne Bushey, Scott Williams, Jerry Bryan, Tony Goodwin, Harold Thygesen, Jr. and Eaton Snow. A time of refreshments and fellowship followed at the church hall.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Congregational Church of Brookfield, c/o Patricia Nash, PO Box 454, Brookfield, Vt. 05036.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Day Funeral Home of Randolph.
