Local Teachers
Are Committed

Yesterday consultants from Research for Better Teaching had the privilege to facilitate seminars with all of the teachers and administrators of the Randolph public schools.

In steamy rooms, after a long day of work, participants came together in groups to focus their collective and collaborative efforts on ways to help each and every student in the schools achieve at high levels.

The commitment of others behind the scenes—custodians, technology-support employees, secretaries, assistants, and many others—was evident too throughout the day.

The challenges confronting the teachers in the Randolph schools are enormous: new initiatives in reading and math at the elementary levels, many new teachers, fiscal limitations. Yet even in the face of all these demands and stressors, all were determined to take on the challenges and provide students with the high quality education they deserve.

One teacher with whom I spoke in the parking lot after the seminars summed up the feelings of all when she said, "It’s hard, but we’re there for the kids."

All of us who led the seminars yesterday were deeply moved by the determination and expertise of those who serve the students and families of the Randolph public schools. It is truly an honor to be a part of their efforts.
