Walter Schell

BETHEL—Walter Christian Schell, 45, died Saturday, October 6, 2007, after a long illness.

He was born in Bucuresti, Romania, on December 24, 1961, to Elena and Hainrich Schell, and immigrated to New York City as a teenager.

He had a great love of music, language, and culture. He was a collector of, among other things, exotic plants and important photographic works, and hosted a group of friends nearly every week over the past several years for evenings of good humor, music, and pool.

He welcomed a "fresh air" daughter from the inner city every summer, taking her camping with his daughter, Lindsey Ottilia Schell. He also traveled to New York and Florida regularly to see his mother, Elena.

A memorial service and celebration of his life will be held Saturday, October 13 at 1:30 p.m. at Bethany Church in Randolph.
