Frost Arrives
In the Valley

The photograph is by The Herald's Tim Calabro.

This week saw the first frost of the season throughout the White River Valley of Vermont. The second came for many on Tuesday night.

Mid-October is very late for the first frost in these parts, but the famed colors of Vermont foliage didn’t seem to care, as they have been putting on quite a show for three weeks.

The combination of color tinged with frost, however, is a special bouquet served up by Mother Nature this time of year, and Herald Photographer Tim Calabro captured it perfectly.

Too bad the newspaper can’t help you to smell the fragrance of the newly-frosted leaf!
