RANDOLPH CENTER—Louise Marion Brazier Silloway, 90, died early Wednesday morning Oct. 17, 2007 at home surrounded by her family, after several months battling ovarian cancer.

She was born May 26, 1917, the daughter of Alfred and Marion Parker Brazier of East Montpelier Center. She was educated at Montpelier Seminary and graduated from the University of Vermont in 1938 with a bachelors’ degree in education.

She taught school in Plainfield, before marrying Paul M. Silloway June 11, 1939. They moved to Randolph Center in 1940 and purchased the Morrill Farm.

She was proud of her English heritage and was excited to trace her history as a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She served her local Israel Converse Chapter as Regent, and was voted Honorary Regent, when she was unable to lead the spring meeting.

She worked many years in the sugarhouse at the Tunbridge Fair for the Orange County Sugarmakers. She and her husband, Paul, received the Outstanding Conservation Award in 1969 and again in 1989. She enjoyed selling maple syrup from her home. She loved attending the Kimball library book discussion groups with her daughter-in-law, Lynne Gately.

She was predeceased by her husband Paul, in 1991; her two older sisters, Ruth Thurston and Frances Welch, and her younger brother, Henry.

Survivors include four children: David Silloway and wife, Lynne Gately; Anne Silloway, and Bette Lambert, all of Randolph Center; and Stuart and Patsy Silloway of Randolph; 14 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, a sister-in-law, Lena Brazier of E. Montpelier Center, and many nephews and nieces.

She has made an anatomical gift to the UVM Medical School. There will be no calling hours, and a memorial service will be held Monday, Oct. 22 at the First Congregational Church in Randolph Center at 11 a.m., with a luncheon following.

Memorial contributions may be made to the D.A.R., in care of Nancy Mandigo, 82 Stafford Meadows Lane, Bethel, Vt. 05032; or to the Visiting Nurse Assoc. & Hospice of VT & NH, Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center Lebanon, N.H. 03756-0001.
