U.S. Air Force Liberty Big Band The United States Air Force Liberty Big Band will present a free concert at Chandler Music Hall in Randolph Sunday, Nov. 4 at 4 p.m. Renowned for their excellent musicianship, the 18-band members will take their listeners on a walk down Memory Lane to the sounds of the great big band era, and also check out some of the new sounds of today. The Liberty Big Band has something for jazz lovers of all ages. From the swinging sounds of Glenn Miller to the best of contemporary big band jazz, the Liberty Big Band plays it all. Part of the United States Air Force Band of Liberty from Hanscom Air Force Base, outside of Boston, this ensemble has been entertaining audiences throughout the Northeast for more than 25 years. One of the few traveling big bands still in existence, the Liberty Big Band regularly performs for audiences throughout New England, New York and New Jersey. The band has been featured at the Syracuse and Corning, N.Y. and Manchester, N.H. Jazz Festivals, and has shared the stage with artists such as Jack Jones, Maureen McGovern, and Ann Hampton Callaway at City Hall Plaza in Boston. Paying homage to the great big bands of Basie, Ellington, Kenton and Goodman, the Liberty Big Band also spotlights the works of modern jazz composers such as Maria Schneider, Mike Crotty, Sandy Megas and Brett Zvzcek. The band members hail from all over the country and take pride in preserving the heritage of America’s true musical art form—jazz. These world-class, mission-ready music professionals are dedicated to using the power of music to inspire the U.S. Air Force and the nation they serve, to produce innovative musical programs, and to communicate Air Force excellence. Admission to the concert is free, but advance reservations are recommended by calling the Chandler Box Office at 728-6464 (or look for a coupon in the November 1 issue of The Herald). The performance is presented with sponsorship from the Northfield Savings Bank. ____________ |
