Chandler Gallery Will Sponsor Print Exhibit & Related Events There will be a reception for Chandler Gallery’s printmaking exhibit, "Leaving a Lasting Impression," this Saturday, Oct. 27 from 5-7 p.m. The gallery will also sponsor several special events at the beginning of November, in conjunction with this exhibit. The exhibit features area printmakers, including a portfolio by Two Rivers Printmaking Studio that is in the collections of the Library of Congress, Dartmouth’s Hood Museum, the Currier Gallery of Art, the Washington Post, Fidelity Investments, I.B.M., Swarthmore College, the New York Public Library, Harvard’s Houghton Library, and the Yale University Gallery of Art. Cycles is by Anne Semperbon. Noted Barnard printmaker Sabra Field will give a talk at the gallery Sunday, Nov. 4 at 6:30 p.m. She will discuss her work and show examples of her lifetime involvement in the art of printmaking. The evening will also be an opportunity to see Chandler’s Centennial Poster that uses one of Field’s iconic images of Vermont. Filed donated the rights to the image of "Strawberry Moon," showing a full moon rising over green hills, to Chandler Gallery and will be available to sign copies of the poster after the talk. The admission charge for the evening also supports the Gallery. Digital artist Jim Robinson of Bethel will offer a digital camera workshop Saturday, Nov. 3 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. This beginner’s workshop will focus on demystifying the many features of these sometimes overwhelmingly complicated cameras. This four-hour workshop will explore the numerous settings and menu options of your digital camera. Make sure to bring your digital camera, memory card, paper manual, USB cable and your camera’s battery fully charged to the workshop. Robinson is an experienced artist who teaches Digital Photography at CCV in Rutland and Photoshop at Lebanon College and has taught numerous workshops on digital image making and the digital camera throughout Vermont for the past 12 years. There is a charge for this workshop and enrollment is limited. There will also be a printmaking workshop offered, that will give young people an opportunity to create their own Vermont landscapes. Randolph Elementary art teacher Rebecca Carleton will teach students in grades three through eight how to cut relief prints and color them in a variety of methods. The workshop will be Saturday, Nov. 3 from 9:30–11:30 a.m. and students will produce a several finished prints. There will be fees for the workshop and materials.
