The Royal boys’ team started their championship run Tuesday night against Northfield at home. After a 9-4-1 record on the year, the Royals were given a 7^th seed. The Marauders of Northfield had a 3-8-3 record and were given a 10^th seed.

After a scoreless first meeting with Northfield earlier in the year, this contest looked about the same. After a zero-zero tie regulation period, the game went into overtime.

At 5:41 into overtime, Royal Dave Mattern scored off a corner kick from Ki Walker, for the only goal of the game, and the 1-0 win. Devin Cilley had eight saves in goal for the Royals. Tyler Cole of Northfield had 11 saves.

The Royals will travel down to Twin Valley on Thursday to face off against the second seeded Wildcats.
