Randolph is very close to having the Selectboard vote on a new civil ordinance on dogs. The draft of the new ordinance was discussed in detail Monday evening by the selectboardboard, the town manager, and Jennie Carter, who acted as a volunteer in the writing of the ordinance. It includes definitions of nuisance, aggressive, and vicious dogs and addresses the humane care of dogs, impoundment and restraint, and investigation of vicious dogs among other items. Much time has been given in making the ordinance comprehensive and clear in direction while in keeping with state statute. The final revisions to the draft will be reviewed at the next meeting, Nov. 19, and it is anticipated that the board will adopt the ordinance at that time. It will go into effect after 60 days. The proposed ordinance is availabe to the public at the town offices. |
