Former VTC Student
Is Killed in Iraq

A 21-year-old Vermont GI and former Vermont Technical College student was killed in Iraq Monday, when a roadside bomb detonated near his vehicle.

U.S. Army Pvt. Adam Muller of Richmond was a gunner for the 10th Mountain Division. He arrived in Iraq just after Labor Day.

Muller was an automotive student at VTC from the fall of 2004 to the spring of 2006. He left sometime before graduation, VTC spokesman Ben Merrill said.

A family friend was quoted as saying Muller had gone into the Army to pay off his college loans.

Muller graduated from Mount Mansfield Union High School in 2004. He had been married for almost a year at the time of his death.

Muller was the 25th service member with Vermont ties to die in Iraq. His death occurred the same week that U.S. military fatalities in Iraq surpassed 2004’s toll of 850, making 2007 the deadliest year for American troops in Iraq.
