Last Friday late afternoon I came into Randolph village on Central Street with my pickup loaded with 11 sheets of channel drain metal roofing stacked mostly in the body. Because it was rush hour, I arrived at the intersection of Central and Forest Streets behind five other vehicles. Now picture in your mind the following—each car took its turn up the hill through the intersection and I stopped and started up five times until I reached the point where it was my turn. As I made my move, the 11 sheets of metal roofing decided to stay together but dropped straight down in a neat pile on the blacktop. Next I realized that every single car had stopped, so I quickly turned around and parked near the guardrail on the Forest Street entrance. By the time I got out of my truck, there were two friends running up to help. We put that roofing back in my truck one sheet at a time in less than five minutes. No one got excited (except me). No horns blew or anything. I am very thankful for all the help and I hope when you read this you will all pause and realize that small towns are the best and Randolph is THE best. Azel S.
