CHELSEA—Eleanor Minnie Dickinson Rowell, 94, died Thursday evening, Dec. 6, 2007 at the Alice Peck Day Extended Care Facility in Lebanon, N.H. She was born April 5, 1913 in Vershire, the daughter of Bert A. and Bernice M. (Chase) Dickinson. She attended school in Vershire. On August 19, 1934 she married Francis C. Rowell in Berlin. They lived most of their married life in Vershire. He died December 28, 1971. In 1980, she moved to Chelsea Senior Court Housing, one of the first tenants in that new facility. In 2006 she moved to the Mountain View of Vershire Residential Care Home. She has lived at Alice Peck Day since October of this year. She enjoyed reading, TV, animals, gardening and spending time with her family. Survivors include a son, Francis (Sonny) Rowell, Jr. of Lebanon, N.H.; eight grandchildren: William Rowell of Bradford, Sally Rowell of North Haverill, N.H., Louise Tetreault of Orange, N.H., Dorothy Perkins of Ryegate, Allen Rowell of Norwich, Christine Brown of Randolph Center, and Philip Thurston and Francis Thurston, both of Corinth; many great and great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, a son Floyd Rowell; a daughter Harriet Thurston; and a grandson, Evan Rowell. There are no public calling hours. A graveside funeral service will be held in the spring at the Post Mills Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Chelsea Area Senior Citizens Center, P.O. Box 44, Chelsea, Vt. 05038. The Boardway & Cilley Funeral Home on Main Street in Chelsea is in charge of arrangements. ____________ |
