Rochester Girls
In Black River

On Friday night, the Rochester girls played Green Mountain in Black River Rochester was in trouble from the beginning. Green Mountain scored within the first few seconds of the game, and kept on scoring from there. Rochester had a lot of fouls, which didn’t help their case any.

Sophomore Caitlin Cutting ended up fouling out in the fourth quarter, and cheered on her teammates from the bench for the final minutes of the game. Rochester started to have a come-back toward the end the game, but couldn’t pull it off.

The final score was 40-30, Green Mountain.

The Rockets went back to Black River Saturday to play the consolation game against Proctor. The Rockets went into the game ready to play, and played well the first half.

During the third quarter, things stared going down hill. For the start of the last quarter, though, the Rockets came out hungry for the ball, and pushed themselves to the limit. The final score was a close 42-38. Rochester ended up coming in third in the tournament.

On Tuesday night, Rochester played Chelsea at home. Rochester was down for the beginning of the game.

After the half, the Rockets switched from a 1-3-1 zone defense to a man-to-man defense. Chelsea got into a lot off foul trouble and luckily, the Rockets did not. Another advantage the Rockets had was that Chelsea’s high-scorer, Robyn Kennedy, got hurt and didn’t play for the entire second half of the game.

Rochester’s high-scorer was Cutting, and senior Samantha Mishkit had the second most points. The final score was 30-24, after being tied on-and-off for the last quarter.
