Northfield Photographer’s Images Scenes of Vermont by Northfield photographer John Knox will be on display in the art gallery at Gifford Medical Center on South Main Street in Randolph beginning Jan. 2. A 40-year resident of Northfield, Knox is an avid Red Sox fan, a mathematics teacher at Vermont Technical College and serious photographer. He specializes in photographing Vermont in all four seasons. His works are also for sale on small cards and he has had photographs published by Vermont Life Magazine, including a cover shot. Knox was born in Woodsville, N.H., graduated with a commission as a second lieutenant from Norwich University, and served a tour in Vietnam. Returning to civilian life in Vermont, he earned a master’s degree in mathematics from the University of Vermont and went on to teach at the high schools in Northfield and Barre, beginning in 1972, at Vermont Technical College. Baseball has been an important aspect of Knox’s life as a player, umpire and fan. He played baseball in high school, with the American Legion, in college and then professionally in Canada. He umpired baseball as a member of the Central Vermont Umpires Association for 25 years. Knox’s photography will be on display at Gifford through February 13. The gallery is located just to the left of the hospital’s main lobby. ____________ |
