There was a lot of exciting hockey action leading up to the holiday break. The Northfield Marauders boys’ team beat U-32, with Alex Green of Braintree and RUHS getting the game-winning goal. Teammate Tyler Goodrich had a pair of goals in the home win. Seth Tracy, of Randolph and RUHS, is returning from a shoulder injury and is starting to see increased playing time. On Saturday, the home team was thumped by Brattleboro, 4-0. With their record at 3-3-1, the Marauders hit the road for a tournament in Middlebury, with games on Thursday and Friday. They return home for a game against Burr & Burton on January 2 at 5:30. The NAHA Bantam team kept up their winning ways with tough games on three consecutive nights. On Friday they beat Rutland 3-1 to remain undefeated, Dakota Enberg, Sam Dyer, and Jerry Passalacqua had goals for the Northstars in the win. On Saturday, they lost their undefeated record with a 6-0 loss to Missisquoi. They returned home Sunday and won a thriller against Stowe. Northfield led by one and with 20 seconds left in the game, Stowe tied it up. The home team then scored a goal with 1.6 seconds left for the huge bounce-back win. They take their 11-1-0 record into games against Woodstock and Lyndon this weekend. The under-12 girls’ team lost to Essex 6-0, then completely outplayed an under-14 team on Sunday in an exciting 2-2 tie. Their two weekend games are against Central Vermont and Burlington. Jacob Kaplan, who plays for the Squirts (ages 9-10), and Riley Corey, who plays for the Mites (ages 7-8), are both contributing to their teams. ____________ |
