Scott Harrington POMFRET—Scott Harlin Harrington, 90, died early Thursday, Dec. 27, 2007 at the Brookside Nursing Home in White River Jct. He was born August 31, 1917 in Hanover, N.H., the son of Harlin and Esther (Kenyon) Harrington. He attended school in North Pomfret, then spent the next 40 years working for the Pomfret Highway Department, serving as Road Commissioner for 16 of those years. He worked three years for the state of Vermont as a highway patrolman. He married Miriam Ellsworth June 11, 1942 in North Pomfret. She died September 28, 2006, after 64 years of marriage. He loved his horses and spent a lot of time with them, logging and collecting sap for his maple sugaring. He was a proud deer hunter and enjoyed his gardens. He was a member of the Vail Grange in Pomfret, serving as assistant steward. He also loved to dance with his wife, Miriam. Survivors include a son, Robert Harrington of North Pomfret; a daughter, Ruth Harrington of North Pomfret; 11 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren. Visiting hours were held Saturday, Dec. 29 at the Cabot Funeral Home in Woodstock. A funeral service took place Sunday, Dec. 30 at the North Pomfret Congregational Church, with a gathering following the service. Burial was at the Hewittville Cemetery in North Pomfret. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Scott Harrington Road Maintenance Fund, P.O. Box 286, North Pomfret, Vt. 05053. ____________ |
