The Randolph Lady Ghosts varsity basketball team faced the Union 32 Raiders at home last week. The Ghosts had a strong game, but came up short, losing 45-34. The first half was the best the ghosts have played all year. They came out strong in the first quarter scoring early with lay-ups from Gwen Reis and a three-pointer from Shayne Reis. The Ghosts played strong defense and ran their offense smoothly. The quarter ended with the Ghosts down by one, 10-9. The second quarter was even better for Randolph. They were boxing out well and forcing U-32 to make mistakes. The Ghosts ran their offense well, with points from S. Reis, Javon Miller, Andrea Chase and Katie Jickling. The Ghosts managed to tie the game up and went into half–time with the score at 19 for each. The second half wasn’t so great. Randolph hit that third quarter slump again, and fell into a 10 point hole. The Ghosts had six turnovers in just the one quarter. Randolph was one for 11 from the floor, but Ashley Chase was two for two from the line. The fourth quarter was better for Randolph but they were not able to pull themselves out of the hole they dug in the third. The fourth quarter featured scoring from G. Reis, Lindsay Smith, and Miller. Randolph did a great job eliminating turnovers with only one in the quarter. The Ghosts were strong on defense, but they couldn’t make up lost ground. Scoring for the Ghosts were G. Reis, with nine points, Miller with eight, S.Reis with five, Smith with four, Jickling with three, and two from both Andrea Chase and Ashley Chase. ____________ |
