Woody Guthrie Tribute Is Jan. 13
MountainFolk will present "Ribbon of Highway, Endless Skyway: A Musical Tribute to Woody Guthrie," Sunday, Jan. 13 at 7:30 p.m. at the Tunbridge Town Hall in Tunbridge. This unique concert tour hits the road rarely and has never been to Vermont. Featured performers for this concert will include Jimmy LaFave, Sara Lee Guthrie (Woody’s granddaughter), Johnny Irion, Joel Rafael, the Burns Sisters and "the Dylan of Dust," Bob Childers. The three-hour performance will range throughout the words, songs, passion, social issues and transient life that defined Woody Guthrie. The performers on the "Ribbon of Highway" tour hope people will see that "Woody’s still out there, swimmin’ around in other folks’ heads, spittin’ out words that make us all do better. What we should remember is that he was a man who picked up a guitar and used his voice, personality and wit to speak to the human condition." Woody once said, "Music is the winds that sigh in the tree of life, and I find it pretty hard from day to day to keep from getting out on a limb. But, in my day, there was lots and lots of folks out on limbs. I’m just hoping that in your day there won’t be so many..." There will only be 200 tickets sold for this performance. Advance tickets can be purchased at the Tunbridge Village Store, the Royalton Market or on-line through PayPal at the MountainFolk website, www.mtnfolk.org. If there are any seats left on the night of the show, they will available at the door. ____________ |
