Teen A Cappella Chorus The Chandler Center for the Arts in Randolph has announced the formation of an a cappella teen chorus under the direction of Patty Akley Warlick. Rehearsals begin in February with the goal of the group being part of this year’s Mud Season Variety Show. The a cappella chorus for teens in grade 9–12 will build on the success of two youth choruses created at Chandler last winter. Many of these participants went on to be cast members of "You Gotta Have a Dream," a lively youth production featuring song, dance, readings and skits presented at Chandler Music Hall in October. This choral opportunity was created in response to enthusiastic suggestions from Chandler’s newly-created youth advisory board, and will be one of several opportunities for youth to gather and share the gift of song in the coming year. Vocal coach Patty Akley Warlick returns to lead the chorus. The focus will be on developing skills to improve abilities to sing and blend harmonically as a choral ensemble. Rehearsals will be held in the Chandler upper gallery Sunday evenings from 6–7:30 p.m., beginning February 3, although there will be no rehearsal Sunday, Feb. 17. Auditions for the Mud Season Variety Show are March 11 and 12, and performances will be presented April 11 and 12. For information about the fee for this nine-week session and to pre-register, contact Betsy Cantlin at 728-9878, or outreach@chandler-arts.org. ____________ |
