Regina Lamson

RANDOLPH—Regina V. "Reggi" Lamson, 89, died peacefully Thursday, Jan. 10, 2008 at the Windover House, surrounded by her family.

She was born September 17, 1918 in New Rochelle, N.Y., the daughter of George and Barbara (Schramm) Weisz. Except for three years in Tampa, Fla., she spent her childhood in Atlanta, Ga. She attended Sacred Heart Parochial School and graduated in 1936 with secretarial skills. She worked for Crucible Steel Co. until 1943. She then moved to Miami, Fla. with friends, where she worked as a secretary for Eastern Airlines.

At the end of World War II, John J. "Jack" Lamson came to Miami and joined the team at Eastern Airlines. In 1948, he returned to his home in Randolph and joined family members at J.H. Lamson & Sons, Inc. After a two-year north-south courtship, they were married on June 12, 1950 in Miami, Fla. They made their home in Randolph.

In 1960, she joined her husband in the hardware store, and worked with him until the business was sold (after 111 years in the family) and they retired in 1981. In retirement, they spent winters in New Smyrna Beach, Fla. and summers at their home in Randolph.

Her hobbies included dancing, swimming, walking, reading, crossword puzzles, board games and cards, especially bridge. She loved entertaining and being with people. She was a member of the Randolph Area Senior Center.

Survivors include a daughter, Lyn Larocque and her husband, Gary, of Randolph; two brothers: George Weisz and family of Carlsbad, Calif. and Joseph Weisz and family of Stone Mountain, Ga.; three grandchildren: Amy (Larocque) Button of Skaneateles, N.Y.; Karen Larocque of Randolph, and Ryan Larocque of Lowell, Mass.; and four great-grandchildren: Dustin, Nicholas, Kiara and Rylee.

She was predeceased by her husband, John J. Lamson in 2001; and a sister, Margaret Harp.

Graveside services will be held Friday, May 30, 2008 at 10 a.m. at the Pleasant View Cemetery with the Rev. Kathy Eddy officiating. There are no calling hours.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to your favorite charity.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Day Funeral Home in Randolph.
