TUNBRIDGE—Hazel P. Flye, 83, died Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2008 at her daughter’s home, where she had lived for the past several years. She was born February 15, 1924 in Corinth, the daughter of Ray and Ethel (Lovett) Comstock. She grew up in Corinth and graduated from Thetford Academy. She married James Edward Flye Jr. on September 26, 1945. They lived for a short time in Post Mills, before moving to Corinth, where they lived for the rest of their married lives. Besides being a homemaker, she also worked away from the home. She was employed at the Bowin Hunter Bobbin Mill in East Corinth, then later at the Bradford Veneer and Panel Factory in Bradford, and finally as a processor at the Forrest Poultry Plant in South Royalton. She stopped working to take care of her husband, after he became ill. He died March 14, 1978. In 1999, she moved to Tunbridge to live with her daughter, Judy. She enjoyed gardening and feeding her birds. She also liked crocheting and baking, and was known to make some of the best pies in the area. Survivors include two sons, Jerrold Flye and Jeffrey Flye, both of Corinth; five daughters: Janice Broe of Tunbridge, Janet Jellison of Chelsea, Maine, Judith Santamore of Tunbridge, Masherrie Noyes of Lebanon, N.H., and Faith Downer of Tunbridge; 14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Alice Knapp of Corinth and Robena Roberts of Littleton, N.H.; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, James Edward Flye III; a grandson, Benjamin Flye; a granddaughter, Emily Flye; three brothers, Ralph Comstock, Clifford Comstock, and Kenneth Comstock; and two sisters, Bernice Rood and Patricia Ricker. Calling hours were held Monday, Jan. 21, at the Boardway & Cilley Funeral Home in Chelsea. A springtime committal service will be held at the Meadow Meeting Cemetery in Corinth. Memorial contributions may be made to the Activity Fund of the Adult Day Program at Gifford Medical Center, P.O. 2000, Randolph, Vt. 05060. ____________ |
