Area Hockey Report

In high school hockey action this past week, the Northfield Marauders ran their record to 11-4-1, with wins over Woodstock and Montpelier. They beat Woodstock at home, 5-1 with goals from Tyler Goodrich (2), Tyler Cole, Corey Hunt, and Alex Green. Matt Davison made 17 saves in goal.

On Saturday, they traveled to Montpelier and came away with a 4-1 victory. Goodrich tallied two again, Cole and Green each had one. Stefan Wuorinen posted a dozen saves to bring the boy’s win streak to seven straight. Their next game will be played in Stanstead, Quebec against co-division leader North Country (14-2).

Bantams

The North Stars Bantams split their weekend contests, losing again to Missisquoi, 6- 2, and then rebounding against Rutland for the win, 6-2. The teams record stands at 21-3. They will play in their State Tournament (AB Level) at the Ice Center in Waterbury. The games will be played from February 8-15.

Under 12 Team

The Girls Under-12 team had a fun parent versus daughters game at Kreitzberg on Saturday morning, followed by a team/family breakfast.

On Sunday, the team traveled to Campion Arena for a game against The Hanover Wild. The final score was 3-1 for the Wild girls. Northfield’s goal was scored by defenseman Erin Easton. Kristen Dukette played outstanding in goal to keep the game close. The girls will head to Missisquoi for their tournament action, also in the AB Division. The games will start on Feb.14, and will end on either Feb. 19 or 20.

Squirts

The Squirts team will travel to Cairns Arena in Burlington and compete for the state title in a very large field. There are 17 teams entered at this B-Level event. For more information, go to http://www.vthockey.org or http: //www.northfieldvthockey.com.

The Mites do not hold a competition at this level, but the team will play in various tournaments and jamborees.
