Differences Exist, Respect Shown

If you’ve had the opportunity to attend a selectboard meeting during the past two years, you may have appreciated the air in which the five-member board conducts the business of the town: Selectboard members, along with the valuable support of Assistant Jackie Higgins, working together in harmony doing the business of the town.

Harmony, yes, but, not necessarily with all members sharing the same opinions on a variety of topics that come under discussion. The thing that may have struck you, as it does us, is the respectful and thoughtful manner in which each member is free (and feels safe) to express differing opinions and points of view. We feel that working together with a cooperative spirit results in wise decisions and direction benefiting the Town of Royalton.

We hope to be able to continue this democratic process in the future with the same level of thoughtfulness and respect.

Public input is appreciated. Please feel free to attend our meetings which are held regularly on the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month, beginning at 7 p.m. in our new location across from the town office building in the Knight’s Opera House (former Grange Hall building). And don’t forget pre-Town Meeting will be February 26, at 7:30 p.m. at the Royalton Academy Building.
