TUNBRIDGE—Joseph D. Purcell, III, 69, formerly of Long Branch and Ocean Township, N.J., died Friday, Feb. 29, at his home in Tunbridge. He formerly owned and operated Purcell Industrial Painting Company in Ocean Township, N.J. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. He was a 1957 graduate of Long Branch High School and attended Murray State University. Mr. Purcell was born in Long Branch and lived in Ocean Township before moving to Tunbridge in 1986. Surviving are two sons and daughter-in-laws, Kyle and Stacey Purcell of Ocean Township, N.J., and Drew and Debbie Purcell of Parkland, Fla.; a daughter, Wendy Purcell of Wanamassa, N.J.; his parents, former Long Branch police chief, Joseph D. Purcell, Jr. and Gladys Gill Purcell of Tinton Falls, N.J.; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Anne M. and Sheldon Vogel of Colts Neck, N.J., and Judith Anne Ziegler of Shrewsbury, N.J.; his grandchildren, Isabella, Francesca, Zachary and Carly Purcell, Brian Ziegler and Tracey and Michael Matthews; uncles; aunts; and his former wife, Dorothy Meyer Purcell of Ocean Township; and many cousins. A funeral service will be 11:30 a.m. Monday, March 10, at Woolley Funeral Home, 10 Morrell Street, Long Branch, N.J. There will be no visiting hours. The interment will be held privately.
