Lady Ghosts Fall To Bellows Falls
By Hannah Becker

The Randolph Lady Ghosts varsity basketball team traveled to Bellows Falls for the first round of the girls’ Division II playoffs. Randolph was seated 13th while Bellows Falls was fourth. The Ghosts were confident going into the game and knew that if they came with their "A" game they could be competitive and win the game.

Unfortunately Randolph did not play their best and fell to Bellows Falls 65-34. Randolph came out strong in the first two minutes of the game with the forwards putting up quick baskets. But after that the game was completely in the hands of Bellows Falls. Randolph was behind 18-8 after the first quarter.

It was the second quarter where Randolph really fell apart. Bellows Falls pressed Randolph in the late minutes of the first quarter and consistently through the second quarter, slowing the Ghosts down and forcing them to turn the ball over. The Ghosts didn't have a single basket from the floor, while having seven turnovers in the eight minutes. To top it off Randolph was 2 for 8 from the foul line, while Bellows Falls went 9 for 10. At half time the Ghosts were down, 31-10.

The second half was much of the same with Randolph committing 11 turnovers, and not scoring enough to keep up with Bellows Falls’ offense. After the third quarter Randolph was down 45-18.

The fourth quarter was better for Randolph, as Bellows Falls laid back on defense and put their subs in, and Randolph was able to pick up 16 points. Bellows Falls went beyond that, scoring 20. The Ghosts eventually lost by 31, 65-34.

Scoring in the game were Gwen Reis with 11, Javon Miller with 8, Hannah Becker with 3, Ashley Chase, Arielle Connolly, Shayne Reis, Heather Mugford, and Molly Harrness all with 2 each, and Andrea Chase and Lyndsay Smith with 1 each.
