SOUTH ROYALTON—John R. Dukett, 79, died Wednesday morning, March 19, 2008 at the Veteran’s Administration Hospital in White River Junction. He was born August 24, 1928, on Happy Hollow Road in South Royalton, the son of Raymond L. and Margarite Grace (Milroy) Dukett. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1947 and served in Okinawa, and later served during the Korean conflict, from 1950-51. He married Mary Lou Thayer from Govenour, N.Y., on April 5, 1952. They were married for 52 years. John worked 35 years at Gilbert and Bennett Wire Mill in Georgetown, Conn. Shortly after his retirement, they moved back to South Royalton in 2000. Mrs. Dukett died January 2, 2005. He is survived by his two sons, Raymond A. Dukett of Sarasota, Fla. and Joseph J. Dukett of Hartford Village; three grandchildren; five step grandchildren; two step great-grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; two step great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Charlotte Palmer of White River Junction. There will be no services at this time. Following cremation, a private burial service will be held later in June in the Riverview Cemetery in South Royalton. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Boardway and Cilley Funeral Home in Chelsea.
