BARRE—Christopher O. Flan-agan, 84, died Sunday, April 13, 2008 at Central Vermont Hospital in Berlin. He was born April 30, 1923 in Bridgeton, N.J., the son of Ross H. and Theodora (Oley) Flanagan. After high school, he trained and worked for the United States Soil Conservation Service, and had been a blacksmith in Bethel. He married Mary E. MacPhee in Bethel February 7, 1987. He lived in Bethel, then Ohio, then Addison, Maine before moving to Barre earlier this year. He enjoyed fruit and vegetable farming. Survivors include his wife, Mary E. Flanagan, of Barre; three daughters, Donna McKean of Big Prairie, Ohio, Jean Lewis of Memorial services were held Wednesday afternoon, April 16 at the Day Funeral Home in Randolph, with Rev. Timothy Eberhardt, officiating. Burial will be at a later date at the Old Christ Church Cemetery in Bethel. There were no calling hours. Contributions in his memory may be made to a favorite charity.
