Florence Mohlère WILLIAMSVILLE, N.Y.—Florence (Polly) Mohlère, 91, died peacefully March 5, 2008 in Williamsville, N.Y., after a brief illness. She was born in Washington, D.C. and was a graduate of Wheelock College and New York University. She married Richard (Dick) P. Mohlère in 1944. She was an elementary school teacher, finishing her career with the pre-k program for the Syracuse City School District. In 1979, after retiring, she and her husband moved to South Strafford, where they had a family home. There they were actively involved in volunteering for numerous programs and enjoyed their many friends and extended family. She was especially devoted to helping the young readers at Newton School and to the seniors program, volunteering there well into her 80s. She was predeceased by her husband, in 1995; and by a brother and two sisters. Survivors include two sons, V. Joseph Mohlère II and wife, Rebecca, of Davidson, N.C., and Richard P. Mohlère and wife, Patricia, of Shelter Island, N.Y.; two daughters, Ellen M. Hale and husband, Stephen, of Baldwinsville, and Elizabeth M. Emmerick and husband, Richard, of East Amherst, N.Y.; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many extended family members. A memorial service for her friends and family will be held in Strafford, July 13 at 1 p.m. at the United Church of Strafford, with a reception following the service at Innisfree, her home in South Strafford. Memorial donations may be made to Barrett Memorial Hall, c/o Rebecca Seibel, PO Box 154, South Strafford, Vt. 05070, for the dining room fund, as this will benefit the town and the seniors program.
